Politics:



“Customs and Border Protection officials in Chicago seized multiple shipments of fake vaccine cards en route from China to Texas on Monday, as anti-vaxxers continue to attempt to skirt vaccine mandates around the country.”



“The ordinance would require people to be fully vaccinated to enter indoor public spaces, including shopping malls, restaurants and sports arenas.”



“A levee system the federal government built after Hurricane Katrina helped destroy a small Louisiana town, according to the community's mayor.”


Culture:



“A federal judge temporarily blocked on Wednesday a near-total ban on abortion in Texas, the toughest such law in the United States, following a challenge from President Joe Biden's administration after the U.S. Supreme Court let it proceed.”



“As the country still suffers from bus driver shortages, parents and schools are left to navigate long delays paired with uncertain arrival and departure times.”



“CNN reports that Arlington Police Department Assistant Police Chief Kevin Kolbye said, ‘He is currently in the police station at Ott Cribbs in Arlington, Texas. And detectives are talking to him at this point in time.’”



“Kaiser Permanente, one of the largest health care systems in the United States, has placed about 2,200 unvaccinated employees on unpaid leave nationwide because of the company’s COVID-19 vaccination policy.”

Health:

“More than a dozen former NBA players were indicted Thursday for allegedly conspiring to defraud the league’s benefit plan out of almost $4 million, prosecutors said.”


Some Good News:



“Idaho’s Republican lieutenant governor stepped in to protect children from vaccination mandates by broadening a ban on vaccine passports while the state’s governor, who is a member of the same party, traveled out of state. The governor later reversed the order.”
